MPA Students Head to Tanzania & Latvia
This spring, two Master of Public Administration students from Rutgers Graduate School–Camden were named recipients of the Critical Language Scholarship, one of the U.S. Department of State’s most selective international education programs. Their awards were featured in Three Rutgers–Camden Students Receive State Department Scholarships by Caroline Brobeil.
Amy Glasser will study Swahili in Tanzania, building on her earlier Peace Corps service in East Africa. Now pursuing her MPA and teacher certification, she hopes to return to the region to teach math at an international school. “Ideally, I’ll be in a place where I can use Swahili every day,” she shared.

Traveling to Latvia to Study Russian
Jonathan Pamel will travel to Latvia to study Russian. A former Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine, Pamel has continued his engagement with the region through research and professional work. He hopes the scholarship will help him both deepen his expertise and connect more fully with his wife’s family in the Republic of Georgia.
Congratulations to Amy, Jonathan, and fellow recipient Aubre Blake—and special thanks to the Office of Scholar Development and Fellowship Advising for helping students pursue opportunities like this.
