The master of science in chemistry program encourages hands-on research with the department’s internationally recognized faculty. The program focuses on chemistry research in all major areas: analytical, inorganic, physical, theoretical, and biochemistry.
Graduates enter careers in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, teaching, or are well-prepared to continue into a Ph.D. program in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, food science, materials science, or related areas.

- A transcript showing the completion of an undergraduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related science

Degree Requirements
30 total credits, plus a comprehensive examination
- Plan A: Thesis
Emphasizes participation in the research efforts of one or more of the faculty based on student interest, culminating in a research thesis, seminar and oral exam - Plan B: Non-Thesis
Requires completion of a major paper and seminar/oral exam on a topic of current research interest with the remaining credits being obtained via coursework
