Integrating Art & Education: The Stedman Gallery’s Role in Camden

The Stedman Gallery, situated within the Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts (RCCA), has been showcasing diverse exhibitions for over three decades. Established in 1975 and integrated into RCCA in 1997, the gallery engages and inspires audiences in the South Jersey region. Recognized as a Major Arts Organization of New Jersey by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the Stedman Gallery plays a significant role in promoting the arts within the community.

The Rutgers–Camden Center for the Arts (RCCA) has been a cultural cornerstone in South Jersey for over 30 years, offering a diverse array of performances, exhibitions, educational programs, and community projects that foster a deep appreciation for the arts. Established in 1997 through the merger of the Stedman Gallery and the Gordon Theater and Black Box Studio, RCCA serves a broad audience within a 50-mile radius of Camden, encompassing parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Recognized as a Major Presenting Organization by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, RCCA is dedicated to integrating the arts into pre-K–12 education and highlighting their essential role in cultural, economic, and community vitality.
