At Rutgers Graduate School-Camden, we consider your academic journey and the ways you contribute to our campus community. In return, we offer a variety of financial aid options tailored to your needs and potential. This section highlights the funding opportunities available to graduate students at Rutgers University, including scholarships, assistantships, and fellowships from the Graduate School and various departments. In the following discussion, Assistant Deans Erick Watt-Udogu and Danielle Askew will guide you through the available funding options.

TEACHING AND GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

The department’s admissions committee and graduate program director award Teaching and Graduate Assistantships to exceptional full-time applicants. These positions come with significant benefits, including full tuition and fee remission, a generous stipend, and health benefits. The programs offering these assistantships are:

  • Childhood Studies – PhD
  • Computational and Integrative Biology – PhD
  • Creative Writing – MFA
  • Public Affairs – PhD
  • Prevention Science – PhD
MASTER’S MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are available to high-achieving students enrolled in our graduate programs. Qualified full-time students have the opportunity to receive scholarships covering up to 50% of in-state tuition. To be eligible, students must be registered for at least six credits.

GRADUATE SCHOOL OUT-OF-STATE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is competitively awarded to incoming domestic master’s applicants who reside outside of New Jersey. It covers the difference in tuition costs between in-state and out-of-state rates for full-time students taking a minimum of 9 credits, up to 12 credits per semester. The scholarship is renewable for up to 4 consecutive semesters, covering 2 academic years, specifically the fall and spring semesters.

INTERNATIONAL CHANCELLOR’S SCHOLARSHIPS

The Graduate School International Chancellor’s Scholarships are available to all non-sponsored, international F-1 applicants who meet the requirements and enroll full-time in a master’s in the Graduate School. These scholarships are awarded based on the merit of the candidate.

RUTGERS UNIVERSITY-WIDE FELLOWSHIPS

Graduate Program Directors nominate exceptional candidates from the fall applicant pool for University Fellowships.

Bunche Fellowship

Two Bunche Fellowships will be awarded to two incoming, full-time graduate students representing a diversity population. The fellowship includes a stipend plus tuition remission with a possible reappointment for a second year.

Hazel Vera Dean Fellowship

The Hazel Vera Dean fellowship is a scholarship awarded to one graduate student who is a resident of New Jersey and shows financial need.

Trustee Fellowship in the Humanities and Social Sciences

One Trustee Fellowship will be awarded to a student representing a diversity population and pursuing a master’s degree likely to lead to a Ph.D. in the same field. The fellowship includes a stipend and tuition remission with a possible reappointment for a second year.

Presidential Fellowship

Presidential Fellowships are university wide fellowships for PhD applicants that are awarded to an incoming graduate student in a doctoral program selected for a TA/GA . Exceptional candidates are nominated by their Program Director for consideration.

GRADUATE DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS

History (M.A.)

The History Fellowship provides exceptional students with a stipend and tuition remission. The Graduate Program Committee evaluates and selects applicants for this funding.

Psychology (M.A.)

The Psychology Fellowship provides exceptional students with tuition remission. The Graduate Program Committee evaluates and selects applicants for this funding.

Public Administration (M.P.A.)
