Support for Community-Engaged Health Research
Community-engaged research projects aimed at improving health outcomes in South Jersey now have the opportunity to compete for up to $300,000 in grant funding. In S.J. Institute for Population Health Announces New Funding Cycle, The Sun Newspapers reporter Suzette Parmley covers the launch of Cycle 4b—part of an ongoing initiative from the South Jersey Institute for Population Health (SJIPH) to strengthen health equity through research partnerships.
Dr. Stephen Danley, a faculty member in both the Public Affairs and Public Administration programs at Rutgers–Camden, serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Public Policy and Administration and as co-lead for SJIPH. He emphasized that the funding supports collaborative, community-engaged research designed to improve health outcomes in South Jersey. The grants are intended for research teams that include Rutgers and/or Rowan faculty working in partnership with South Jersey-based community organizations. “This is one of our biggest initiatives of the year,” he said.
Established in 2018 through a state grant to the Rowan University/Rutgers–Camden Board of Governors, SJIPH has awarded over $1 million across its first three cycles. Letters of Intent for Cycle 4b are due by July 14, 2025. To learn more about the opportunity and access the full article, read Suzette Parmley’s report in The Sun Newspapers.
