International Student Perspective on Camden
Each year, Campus Philly publishes its Guide to Philly, a resource designed to help students explore neighborhoods, connect with community, and discover the region through student voices. This year, graduate student Kazi Tanzina Begum offered Camden’s story from her perspective as both a graduate and international student.
Originally from Bangladesh and now in her second year at Rutgers–Camden in the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology (CCIB), Kazi described the city as a place where big-city access meets room to breathe. She highlighted sunsets along the Camden Waterfront, quiet walks through Wiggins Waterfront Park, bike rides at Cooper River Park, and afternoons at Adventure Aquarium. She also pointed to the Camden Shipyard & Maritime Museum for its local history and the energy of concerts at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.
My top recommendation is definitely catching the sunset at the Camden Waterfront. The way the sky changes colors over the river, with the Philadelphia skyline as a backdrop, is truly breathtaking and peaceful.
