Reclaiming the Narrative
Author: Angel J Perez | Emerging Media | Digital Studies
Abstract:
Reclaiming the Narrative is a digital storytelling and reflective practice project that examines how marginalized individuals and communities can challenge deficit-based narratives through self-authored stories. Centering identity, voice, and ethical representation, this work uses storytelling as a tool for agency, belonging, and resistance. Through classroom practice, guest lecture engagement, and creative media work, the project demonstrates how storytelling can help people reclaim power over how they and their communities are seen, remembered, and understood.
Graduate Poster Exhibition at SPARK!
The Graduate Poster Exhibition celebrates the research and creative work of the graduate community, showcasing everything from prose and code to original research and artistic expression. As part of SPARK! (Showcase of Projects, Art, Research, and Knowledge), a reimagining of Research Week, the exhibition highlights the depth, range, and impact of graduate scholarship and invites the campus community to engage with ideas taking shape across disciplines.
