AI Campus Launches to Prepare Scholars & Professionals for What’s Next
Artificial intelligence is already reshaping how research is conducted, how students learn, and how professionals work across industries. Last week, Rutgers University-Camden took a significant step toward engaging that future with the official launch of the Rutgers-Camden AI Campus, bringing together nearly 150 faculty, staff, students, and guests to advance AI literacy and adoption across disciplines. Led by Data Science M.S. alum Ojobo Agbo Eje, the initiative establishes a collaborative, project-based learning hub where participants explore how AI can be applied ethically and practically across research, teaching, creative activity, and professional practice. Designed to make AI accessible beyond technical fields, the AI Campus connects scholars and professionals across the sciences, humanities, business, health, policy, and the arts.
As a Rutgers University-Camden alum, it was an honor to launch the Rutgers-Camden AI Campus… Through our work, we would advance responsible AI innovation, adoption, and literacy to drive research and improve career and scholarship outcomes for our school community (faculty, staff, and students).

The Rutgers-Camden AI Campus joins a growing National AI Campus network built around “No-Boundary Thinking,” encouraging collaboration beyond traditional academic silos. Programming spans multiple sectors, including Rutgers students and faculty, K-12 engagement, business and professional development, and the AI Campus Conversation Series, which introduces broader ethical, social, and workforce questions connected to artificial intelligence. During the launch, Chancellor Antonio D. Tillis emphasized the importance of preparing the university community to engage AI thoughtfully, while Vice Chancellor for Research Tom Risch, National AI Campus Executive Director Ryan Urbanowicz, researcher Iman Dehzangi, and Marie Pryor, Ph.D., of the New Jersey AI Hub highlighted how AI literacy strengthens research innovation, regional partnerships, and workforce development.
At its core, the Rutgers-Camden AI Campus is building a human-centered culture of AI learning – one that connects disciplines, supports responsible innovation, and translates emerging technology into real-world impact for communities across South Jersey and beyond. Through cohort-based participation, mentorship, and project-driven collaboration, faculty, staff, students, and external partners are working together to apply AI tools to meaningful challenges. Those interested in participating in future cohorts or upcoming AI Campus Conversations and workshops are encouraged to follow the initiative and learn more about upcoming opportunities to get involved.
