Your Commencement Checklist: 5 Steps to May 20

The stage is set, the stoles are stitched, and your name is about to be called. Commencement for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences–Camden is happening Tuesday, May 20—and everything you need to get there, stand tall, and cross that stage starts here. From regalia deadlines and candidacy forms to arrival time and post-ceremony celebrations, this is your full rundown. Don’t miss a step.

Step 1: Lock in Your Graduation Status

You’ve already submitted your diploma application. Now you need to submit your candidacy form to confirm that all degree requirements are met.

  • PhD candidates must submit the form and dissertation by May 7
  • Master’s candidates must submit the form and thesis or capstone by May 9

Step 2: Suit Up

All graduates are required to wear official regalia. Order your cap and gown here.

The Graduate School’s special stole and merchandise store is now closed. If you placed an order before the April 6 deadline, your items will be delivered in time for Commencement.

Step 2: Step 3: Know the Game Plan for May 20

Arrival Time
Arrive by 11:30 a.m. and check in at the Benjamin Franklin Lobby. You’ll be directed to your lineup by program.

Parking & Transit

  • Free parking available
  • NJ Transit’s River Line stops directly across from the venue (Entertainment Center stop)

Guests Welcome
No tickets needed—bring as many friends and family as you’d like.

Crossing the Stage
Your name will be read as you walk. PhD students will be hooded and have their dissertation titles announced. Please wait until your name is called before approaching the stage, and remain for the full ceremony.

Important Note on Conduct
Air horns and disruptive noisemakers are not permitted. Let’s keep the focus on every graduate’s moment.

Step 4: Stay for the Celebration

The Chancellor’s Graduation Picnic will take place right outside the Pavilion immediately following Commencement.

  • Free for all graduates and guests
  • Registration required—details coming soon

Step 5: Watch for Your Diploma

Diplomas are processed and distributed 6–8 weeks after the ceremony. Based on your diploma application, you’ll either:

  • Receive it by mail, or
  • Pick it up at the One Stop Student Services Center
