The executive master of public administration (Executive M.P.A.) is a 30-credit graduate program completed in two years.  Designed to prepare mid-career professionals for advancement in government and the nonprofit sector. Alumni of the program hold positions in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of local, state, and county governments and the non-profit sector. Examples of alumni positions include: chief operating officer, administrative supervisor, supervisor, assistant director, director, executive director, assistant chief, municipal business administrator, and vice president.

The Rutgers University–Camden Executive M.P.A. program offers cohort admissions, an established curriculum, small classes, expert advising and mentoring, and the opportunity to work closely with our distinguished faculty.

Admission Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited undergraduate school
  • Official transcripts showing all coursework from undergraduate and graduate schools
  • Five years of relevant professional experience supported by current resume
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A statement regarding the applicant’s personal and professional goals and experience

Degree Requirements

42 total credits

The M.P.A. curriculum consists of 10 courses. Students are accepted as a cohort in the fall. Acceptance to the program includes up to 12 credits for work experience. The hybrid course design provides both weekly class meetings on Saturday mornings in West Windsor and online instruction to supplement classroom instruction. Courses are held from September to December and from January to early May. Students also attend a one-week intensive class each of the two summers.

The Executive M.P.A. provides students with the opportunity to expand their understanding of the world while preparing them for public service careers in government and non-profit organizations close to home and abroad.
